SHORT BIO
RIL is a Florida-based electronic music producer and DJ with a bass-driven, genre-fluid sound shaped by vinyl, remix culture, hip-hop influence, psychedelic texture, groove, and unexpected collisions.
MEDIUM BIOReally RIL began manipulating and remixing music in Sonic Foundry Sound Forge at age ten (1997), before app stores, YouTube tutorials, creator platforms, and consumer-friendly music workflows made digital production widely approachable. Learning specialized desktop audio software at that age meant developing technical instincts through curiosity, trial, and self-directed experimentation. After building a substantial vinyl collection, RIL moved into DJing while attending undergraduate school in Las Vegas. From an early Numark controller to a predominantly Pioneer workflow, RIL has continued expanding through Rekordbox, Djay Pro, Adobe Audition, Ableton Suite, MPC Beats, and AKAI hardware including the APC40, MPD series, MPC Force, and MPK series. The current sound moves freely through experimental bass, downtempo, glitch hop, funk, hip-hop influence, atmospheric passages, and festival energy without losing its center of gravity.

Before Really RIL was an artist identity, music was already being taken apart. At age ten (1997), Sonic Foundry Sound Forge became an early laboratory for edits, rearrangements, and homemade remixes. The timing matters. Home computers were far less ubiquitous, digital audio tools were specialized, and there were no app stores, YouTube tutorials, or mature creator platforms to make the path obvious. Learning Sound Forge at ten meant developing technical instincts through patient, self-directed experimentation. Digital experimentation then grew alongside physical records, turntables, and a substantial vinyl collection, building an instinct for how different eras and genres can speak to one another.
After moving to Las Vegas for undergraduate school, that relationship expanded into DJing. The first controller was a Numark; later setups moved predominantly through Pioneer equipment, with Rekordbox and Djay Pro supporting a workflow that balances preparation with the freedom to follow the room. Production and sound manipulation now extend through Adobe Audition, Ableton Suite, MPC Beats, and AKAI hardware including the APC40, MPD series, MPC Force, and MPK series.
The result is bass-driven and genre-fluid. A RIL set may move through experimental and left-field bass, downtempo, glitch hop, funk, electro-soul, hip-hop influence, rock memory, breakbeats, atmospheric passages, and high-energy festival music. The thread is not one genre. It is groove, tension, storytelling, and the patience to let an unexpected connection become obvious.
RIL is also an intentionally visual identity. Sound, artwork, photography, festival culture, and merchandise operate as connected parts of the same creative ecosystem. The name carries a simple philosophy: res ipsa loquitur. The thing speaks for itself. The music should, too.
