The origin point was not a club, a festival, or even a pair of decks. It was Sonic Foundry Sound Forge in 1997 and the realization that recorded music could be opened, rearranged, stretched, and made unfamiliar.
That early habit still sits underneath the current sound. A transition is not just movement between two tracks. It is an edit happening in real time: a choice about what to reveal, what to hold back, and how long the listener should live inside the overlap.
The tools changed. The instinct did not. Listen closely enough and the waveform is still there, asking what else it can become.
